Materials Scientist Ainissa Ramirez, Ph.D., is an AAAS Member, celebrated science communicator and author of two books. Her latest release, "The Alchemy of Us: How Humans and Matter Transformed One Another," explores the world-changing creation of eight significant inventions and the little-known inventors behind them, particularly from people of color and women. Smithsonian listed the book in their Ten Best Science Books of 2020 and it is also the Winner of the 2021 AAAS/Subaru SBF Prize in the Young Adult Science Book Category.
To coincide with the paperback release of "The Alchemy of Us: How Humans and Matter Transformed One Another," next month, we will celebrate and discuss the book with Ainissa in our first Women in STEM Book Club on April 27th at 6:00 pm Eastern (3:00 pm Pacific).
